OROFINO — Attorney General Raúl Labrador met with Clearwater County law enforcement and elected officials this week to discuss ongoing efforts to protect families and strengthen public safety partnerships across North Idaho.
The meeting in Orofino included Sheriff Chris Goetz, Chief of Police and County Commissioner Vince Frazier, and Prosecutor Clayne Tyler. The leaders discussed current public safety challenges facing rural communities and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between state and local agencies.
“Our local law enforcement officers are the backbone of community safety, and it’s essential that we support their critical work anyway we can,” said Attorney General Labrador. “These partnerships help us better protect families throughout Idaho, especially in our rural communities where resources can be stretched thin.”
The discussion focused on several areas where the Attorney General’s office can provide additional support, including the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which has eliminated a 1,300-tip backlog and now responds to new cases within 24 hours. The office has also expanded its network of paid affiliate investigators across Idaho to strengthen local capacity for child protection cases.
Clearwater County officials highlighted their ongoing commitment to community safety and has been an active partner in statewide public safety initiatives, including efforts to protect children from online predators.
The Attorney General’s office continues to prioritize building strong relationships with local law enforcement agencies across Idaho’s 44 counties. These partnerships ensure families receive comprehensive protection from state and local agencies working together to uphold the rule of law and maintain safe communities.
