Primary Duties: The primary duties of an Office of the Attorney General investigator include conducting interviews, obtaining and analyzing documents and other evidence, serving subpoenas, obtaining and executing search warrants, preparing reports and exhibits, maintaining investigative case files, testifying in court, and interfacing with other law enforcement agencies. Frequent travel throughout Idaho is required.
The successful applicant will be assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) in the Criminal Law Division. This is a sworn law enforcement position. This investigator will be responsible for investigating cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children. These include exploitation, enticement, sextortion and hands-on offenses.
This work requires the investigator to frequently view graphic videos, photographs, and chat logs of child sexual exploitation for investigative purposes, such as to establish crimes committed and to locate evidence to be used in the identification/rescue of live victims and the prosecution of offenders. The Office of the Attorney General requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to participate in a mental health resiliency program run by a certified clinician.
The Office of the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit works with the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals that use technology to victimize Idaho children.
Requirements: Applicants must possess ALL of the following:
Current Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher; minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent; at least five years law enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations; above-average communication and interpersonal skills; a thorough understanding of laws, policies and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law enforcement service; ability to work both independently and in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors; enthusiasm for public service.

Primary Duties: This attorney position will be a part of a dynamic civil litigation team that focuses on strategic and high-stakes litigation defending the sovereignty of Idaho and the rights of her citizens. The Civil Litigation and Constitutional Defense Division works closely with Idaho’s Solicitor General and represents the state in state and federal courts in high profile civil rights and constitutional claims, class actions, major tort claims, administrative law challenges, statutory matters, and multi-state litigation. The attorney selected for this position will participate in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion and trial practice, and appeals.
Requirements: This position requires at least 2 years of litigation experience. State or Federal clerkship preferred but not required. Primary Duties: The Division seeks attorneys to serve as hearing officers for its Fair Hearings Unit, which handles Department of Health & Welfare contested cases. The DAG hearing officers conduct hearings telephonically, in-person or via video conferencing. They explain hearings procedures, answer questions, rule on objections, admit exhibits, take testimony, question witnesses, conduct legal research, set and conduct status/pre-hearing conferences, issue briefing schedules, review pre-and post-hearing motions, and issue written decisions. They ensure that all parties receive due process. Working with the Unit paralegal, they adhere to internal procedures and protocols and assure all relevant timeframes are met, cases are docketed and tracked, records are maintained, and any scheduling or other conferences/motions practice take place as necessary.
The DAG hearing officers will remain with the Office of the Attorney General through approximately June 30, 2024, when the Fair Hearings Unit will transition to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). Per Idaho Code § 67-5283(3), the hearing officers may have the ability to transition to the OAH if they meet the statutory minimum qualifications outlined in Idaho Code § 67-5281(2) and 67-5283. The hearing officer positions with OAH are anticipated to be as an “Administrative Law Judge” and are non-classified.
The DAG hearing officers practice in the Division’s central office, which allows attorneys to both work independently and practice as part of a larger team of the Office of the Attorney General. The team provides substantive support and collegiality.
Requirements: Active Idaho State Bar license required.
Preferred qualifications – experience handling administrative contested cases and with the Idaho Administrative Procedures Act and administrative hearing procedures.
