Primary Duties: The successful applicant will be assigned to the Appellate Unit in the Criminal Law Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Practice in the Appellate Unit offers intellectually challenging work in a stimulating environment. Primary duties include conducting legal research, preparing briefs, and presenting oral arguments to the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Court of Appeals in criminal and related cases. Appellate attorneys frequently consult on other cases handled by the Criminal Law Division because of their legal expertise and may also be asked to review legislation, serve on committees dealing with criminal law, or complete other related tasks.
Minimum Qualifications Duties: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Excellent research, writing, and word processing skills are a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a prosecutor is preferred but not required.

Duties include handling prison civil rights litigation, employment matters, public records, contracts, and a broad range of other matters. This position will focus on the litigation needs of the Department, which includes appearing in contested administrative hearings, state court, and in federal district court.
Requirements: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Two years of legal experience, including litigation experience, is required. Experience with contracts, employment law, civil rights law, and/or government liability law is preferred.

Primary Duties: This is a new position created by the Idaho legislature to serve as an expert on human trafficking in the Office of the Attorney General. The successful candidate will be assigned to the Special Prosecutions Unit and focus primarily on the Attorney General’s new statutory duties related to combatting human trafficking, including (1) writing biannual reports on human trafficking in Idaho that include specific recommendations for statutory changes in Idaho, (2) compiling training and educational materials on human trafficking, and (3) assisting local law enforcement and county prosecutors as they investigate and prosecute human trafficking.
The purpose of this new position is to provide an additional resource to those who are already combatting human trafficking in Idaho. This means working cooperatively with state legislators, the Idaho State Police, local law enforcement, county prosecutors, victim advocacy groups, and others to support the overall mission of combatting human trafficking. Frequent travel may be required, including both to attend and present trainings on human trafficking.
As part of the Special Prosecutions Unit, this position may also be required to handle other types of criminal prosecutions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Duties: Enthusiasm for public service is a must. Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with external agencies. Must be comfortable presenting to both large and small groups, including to law enforcement, prosecutors, and the public. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the fight against human trafficking and experience serving on a task force or similar team dedicated to achieving a common goal. Prior experience prosecuting human trafficking cases is preferred but not required.

Prosecutors in this unit may also be assigned to assist county prosecuting attorneys in major cases. Duties of this position include handling all aspects of criminal prosecution, from screening and charging through trial and sentencing; working closely with in-house investigators; and appearing in courtrooms throughout Idaho.
Minimum Qualifications Duties: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Jury trial experience is required. Applicant must be willing to occasionally travel throughout the state and must be comfortable handling cases with media attention. Enthusiasm for public service is essential.
Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of prosecution experience is preferred.
