Protecting Idaho Families Against Unfair, Fraudulent, and Deceptive Marketplace Practices:
The Office of the Attorney General assists consumers with complaints against unfair, deceptive and fraudulent business practices. The complaint form can be found at https://www.ag.idaho.gov/office-resources/online-forms. The consumer also has the option to inform our office without requesting action, or may request an informal dispute resolution process from our investigator team. Sometimes issues that may not fall specifically under the authority of the Idaho Consumer Protection Act can be resolved by consumers and businesses working together in this process with our assistance.

A new wave of scam text messages is hitting across Idaho. These messages claim that a traffic citation must be paid online or that a vehicle registration is overdue. These texts are fraudulent and not connected to the Idaho Transportation Department, local law enforcement, or any official DMV services. If you receive one of these messages like the one pictured above, do not click any links and do not provide personal information or payment details.
For accurate and secure information about DMV services in Idaho, always visit www.dmv.idaho.gov.

Protecting Idaho Families Against Fraudulent Charities:
Charitable giving is essential in our communities, but don’t be fooled by scammers looking to exploit your willingness to help others. Be sure the charity asking for your donations is a legitimate and registered non-profit organization. Never donate via a gift card, money order, or cryptocurrency. Don’t click on unfamiliar links from text messages. Charity scams don’t just hurt you…they hurt the people you are trying to help. Don’t let scammers keep you from helping your favorite charities and causes.
Check the database of registered non-profit charities located at https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/search-for-tax-exempt-organizations.
