Primary Duties: Will work closely with the Attorney General, Chief Deputy, and the Civil Litigation Division to strategize and manage high profile cases defending Idaho’s laws and sovereignty. Will lead a team of two to four attorneys pursuing some of the most consequential cases the Office is handling. The candidate and team will be engaged in strategizing, researching, writing, filing suits, taking depositions, arguing in court, trying cases, and carrying out all aspects of litigation in these special cases for the office.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong academic background with significant litigation experience and a passion for the law. Must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
Seeking a dynamic, experienced litigator who exhibits exceptional research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be an aggressive and thoughtful litigator who takes a principled approach to protecting the state of Idaho in the courts.

Primary Duties: This attorney position will be a part of a dynamic civil litigation team that focuses on strategic and high-stakes litigation defending the sovereignty of Idaho and the rights of her citizens. The Civil Litigation and Constitutional Defense Division works closely with Idaho’s Solicitor General and represents the state in state and federal courts in high profile civil rights and constitutional claims, class actions, major tort claims, administrative law challenges, statutory matters, and section 1983 claims. The attorney selected for this position will participate in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion and trial practice, and appeals.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a member in good standing with the Idaho State Bar or eligible to become a member without taking the bar exam through reciprocity or UBE Score Transfer. Candidates must possess excellent research, writing, client communication, negotiation, and civil litigation skills.
Preferred Qualifications: We invite applications from attorneys at all levels of experience, from entry-level attorneys to those with substantial litigation experience. Primary Duties: The successful applicant will be assigned to the Appellate Unit in the Criminal Law Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Practice in the Appellate Unit offers intellectually challenging work in a stimulating environment. Primary duties include conducting legal research, preparing briefs, and presenting oral arguments to the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Court of Appeals in criminal and related cases. Appellate attorneys frequently consult on other cases handled by the Criminal Law Division because of their legal expertise and may also be asked to review legislation, serve on committees dealing with criminal law, or complete other related tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Excellent research, writing, and word processing skills are a prerequisite.

Digital Forensic Examiner, Criminal Law Division, Central Office

Primary Duties: Digital Forensic Examiners, also known as Forensic Investigators, utilize their expertise with computers and computer software to analyze electronic devices recovered by law enforcement during criminal investigations. The successful applicant will be assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit. The ICAC Unit investigates and prosecutes individuals that use technology to sexually exploit children.
The primary duties of a Digital Forensic Examiner include using specialized software to unlock and analyze phones, laptops, and other electronic storage devices; writing forensic reports; testifying as an expert witness in state and federal court; and advising law enforcement on the technological aspects of their investigations.
This position is open to sworn law enforcement or a civilian who has expertise in computers, computer software, or digital forensic examinations.
Hazardous Duty Statement: This position requires viewing and analyzing digital content showing the sexual exploitation of children, including graphic and disturbing images and videos of children being raped, tortured, and abused. The employee must be able to manage the psychological and emotional impact of repeated exposure to such material as an essential part of the job.
Minimum Qualifications: There are two paths for the necessary experience to work as an ICAC Digital Forensic Examiner:
- Law Enforcement: Must have and maintain Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher; at least 5 years of law enforcement experience with at least 3 years of experience using forensic tools to analyze electronic devices.
- Civilian: Must have a bachelor’s degree or similar formal education in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field. Must have 3 years of educational and/or professional experience working with computers and computer software.
Familiarity with current technology, forensic software, and investigative equipment.
Pass Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check and maintain CJIS access.
Must possess valid state-issued driver’s license.
Must be able to drive and travel frequently, including with little or no advanced notice.
Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
Possess or obtain a recognized forensic certification within one year of hire (e.g., CFCE, GCFE, CCE or equivalent).
Any offer for employment is contingent upon the candidate’s completion of a satisfactory background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, a polygraph, and a psychological evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a field related to digital forensics.
A minimum of 5 years of experience using digital forensic software to analyze electronic devices, preferably in the context of ICAC investigations.
Familiarity with encryption, anonymization, and forensic countermeasures.
Forensic software certification (e.g., CASA, MCFE, EnCE or ACE).
Knowledge of network protocols, network architectures, firewalls, and VPNs.
Idaho POST Instructor certification or completion of an instructor development course.
Demonstrated ability to present forensic findings and assist with training programs.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office and field environment. Work in the field environment requires the employee to maneuver and perform forensic reviews inside a forensic van or similar mobile forensic lab in a crowded and fast-paced environment. The employee must be comfortable and able to deploy to crime scenes and active law enforcement operations such as residential search warrants where the environment ranges from normal to hazardous conditions.
The employee must be able to occasionally lift or move heavy objects (100+ lbs.) and frequently move or lift lighter objects and must be able to run and walk on uneven or obstructed surfaces. Prolonged periods of computer work and sitting will also be required.
