Chief of Special Litigation, Central Office

Primary Duties: Will work closely with the Attorney General, Chief Deputy, and the Civil Litigation Division to strategize and manage high profile cases defending Idaho’s laws and sovereignty. Will lead a team of two to four attorneys pursuing some of the most consequential cases the Office is handling. The candidate and team will be engaged in strategizing, researching, writing, filing suits, taking depositions, arguing in court, trying cases, and carrying out all aspects of litigation in these special cases for the office.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong academic background with significant litigation experience and a passion for the law. Must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
Seeking a dynamic, experienced litigator who exhibits exceptional research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be an aggressive and thoughtful litigator who takes a principled approach to protecting the state of Idaho in the courts.
Strategic vision, political savvy, and compatibility with the Attorney General’s legal philosophy and goals are important. This team will file suits that frequently come before the Idaho Supreme Court, federal appellate courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Primary Duties: Consumer Protection Division deputies enforce the Idaho Consumer Protection Act and other consumer laws, including the Idaho Competition Act, Telephone Solicitation Act, Charitable Solicitation Act, and Charitable Assets Protection Act. Deputies select cases for enforcement, investigate alleged violations, negotiate settlements, litigate cases, and work cooperatively with law enforcement, other state attorneys general, and federal consumer-protection agencies. Deputies provide educational presentations to consumers and businesses, draft informational publications, respond to legislative inquiries, and assist the Division’s Consumer Protection Investigators in obtaining business responses to consumers’ complaints.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent writing and oral communication skills. Experience in consumer protection litigation is preferred.

Primary Duties: This Deputy Attorney General position provides representation and counsel to the State of Idaho and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW). This position works primarily with the Division of Management Services relating to issues that arise within the Contracts and Procurement team (CAPS), the Finance Department, Facilities, and Internal Audit. Areas of practice will include providing advice and counsel related to division programs based on federal and state laws that apply to government contracting and contract oversight. The position works closely with other DAGs and other divisions of IDHW in procurement, contract drafting and analysis, review of policies, advising on public records law, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Admission to the Idaho State Bar and a member in good standing, and at least two years of relevant legal and technical work experience is preferred. Strong academic qualifications are required.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have strong legal research and writing skills and be able to independently perform a variety of transactional work.

Primary Duties: This position handles direct work/caseload for the Department of Finance in addition to supervisory duties. This position supervises and supports other Deputy Attorney Generals and a Paralegal assigned to the Department of Finance. Duties include providing advice and counsel to the Director of the Department and other staff regarding federal and state law related to the Department’s mission: Safeguarding the financial health of Idahoans through the appropriate oversight of diverse financial institutions, the education and protection of consumers, and by fostering sensible innovation in the financial services market.
This position will ensure that the three substantive bureaus of the Department (Consumer Finance, Financial Institutions, and Securities), receive competent and effective legal services, and provide advice to the Director and Supporting Services Bureau when necessary. Duties may include legislative analysis, administrative rule drafting and analysis, contested administrative actions, appeals, review of policies, advising on public records law, litigation, contract review and drafting, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of legal experience, as well as supervisory experience, preferred. Must exhibit strong research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
