Chief of Special Litigation, Central Office

Primary Duties: Will work closely with the Attorney General, Chief Deputy, and the Civil Litigation Division to strategize and manage high profile cases defending Idaho’s laws and sovereignty. Will lead a team of two to four attorneys pursuing some of the most consequential cases the Office is handling. The candidate and team will be engaged in strategizing, researching, writing, filing suits, taking depositions, arguing in court, trying cases, and carrying out all aspects of litigation in these special cases for the office.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong academic background with significant litigation experience and a passion for the law. Must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
Seeking a dynamic, experienced litigator who exhibits exceptional research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be an aggressive and thoughtful litigator who takes a principled approach to protecting the state of Idaho in the courts.
Strategic vision, political savvy, and compatibility with the Attorney General’s legal philosophy and goals are important. This team will file suits that frequently come before the Idaho Supreme Court, federal appellate courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Primary Duties: This position handles direct work / caseload for the Department of Finance, Financial Institutions Bureau. Duties include providing advice and counsel to the Bureau Chief and staff regarding federal and state laws related to banks, credit unions, trust institutions, and business and industrial development corporations.
Duties may include contested administrative actions, appeals, review of policies, advising on public records law, litigation, contract review and drafting, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of legal experience preferred. Must exhibit strong research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.

Primary Duties: The successful applicant will be assigned to the Appellate Unit in the Criminal Law Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Practice in the Appellate Unit offers intellectually challenging work in a stimulating environment. Primary duties include conducting legal research, preparing briefs, and presenting oral arguments to the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Court of Appeals in criminal and related cases. Appellate attorneys frequently consult on other cases handled by the Criminal Law Division because of their legal expertise and may also be asked to review legislation, serve on committees dealing with criminal law, or complete other related tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho. Excellent research, writing, and word processing skills are a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a prosecutor is preferred but not required.

Primary Duties: We are looking for a talented attorney to help advise the Idaho Department of Water Resources on water matters that will shape the history of water law. From the Snake River Basin Adjudication, the largest water adjudication in U.S. history, to the management of surface and ground water resources conjunctively, Idaho is at the forefront of water issues in the West. Join the legal team that is writing the next chapter in water law and water administration. We do it all – from advising IDWR, to appearing before the Idaho Water Adjudication Court, to arguing cases before the Idaho Supreme Court. Candidates need to have strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills as they will assist in drafting orders and may appear in judicial review proceedings before Idaho courts. Minimum Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho and have a desire to work in public service. Strong academic qualifications are required.

Minimum Qualifications: Enthusiasm for public service is a must. Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have excellent grammar and proofreading skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Must have willingness and ability to learn new programs and processes and cross-train in other support staff positions. Must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of experience and training, is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with PACER and the iCourt filing system preferred. Familiarity with legal case management systems preferred.
