Chief of Special Litigation, Central Office

Primary Duties: Will work closely with the Attorney General, Chief Deputy, and the Civil Litigation Division to strategize and manage high profile cases defending Idaho’s laws and sovereignty. Will lead a team of two to four attorneys pursuing some of the most consequential cases the Office is handling. The candidate and team will be engaged in strategizing, researching, writing, filing suits, taking depositions, arguing in court, trying cases, and carrying out all aspects of litigation in these special cases for the office.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong academic background with significant litigation experience and a passion for the law. Must be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar or eligible for admission on reciprocity.
Seeking a dynamic, experienced litigator who exhibits exceptional research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be an aggressive and thoughtful litigator who takes a principled approach to protecting the state of Idaho in the courts.
Strategic vision, political savvy, and compatibility with the Attorney General’s legal philosophy and goals are important. This team will file suits that frequently come before the Idaho Supreme Court, federal appellate courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Consumer Protection Investigator, Consumer Protection Division, Central Office

Primary Duties: The Consumer Protection Investigator (CPI) serves the public by investigating and resolving consumer complaints, facilitating the informal dispute resolution process between consumers and businesses, and working with the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) litigation team to build effective cases using Idaho’s Consumer Protection Act and other applicable statutes. The CPI serves as a resource for consumer inquiries and conducting consumer protection outreach and education to diverse audiences and communities across Idaho.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Three to five years of experience in customer service, administrative support, mediation, or a related field involving communication and recordkeeping.
· Excellent verbal and written communication, data entry, telephone, and customer service skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling records and consumer information.
· Ability to manage sensitive and confidential data in a professional and ethical manner.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn internal tracking systems.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Experience with public speaking and presentations.
· Required to pass a fingerprint-based background check prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in the public sector or with a regulatory or enforcement agency.
· Ability to read and understand laws, statutes, codes, and regulations.
· Good knowledge of consumer protection principles and complaint resolution processes.
· Familiarity with applicable Consumer Protection laws and procedures, with the ability to coordinate with legal staff to address complex or high-risk complaints.
· Experience preparing case notes, summaries, or internal recommendations for review.
· Familiarity with investigative processes and experience supporting case development through documentation and pattern recognition.

Primary Duties: The Central Office of the Energy and Natural Resources Division is looking for an attorney to provide representation and counsel to the State of Idaho and its natural resource agencies, including, but not limited to, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the State Board of Land Commissioners. Practice areas can include public lands, endangered species, NEPA, adjudication of state, federal and tribal water rights, and advising natural resource agencies on contracting, rulemaking, and other administrative matters. Appearances before administrative bodies, state and federal district courts and courts of appeals, including the Idaho Supreme Court, will be required.
Minimum Qualifications: Admission to the Idaho State Bar and at least three years of relevant legal and technical work experience is preferred. Strong academic qualifications are required.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have strong legal research and writing skills and be able to perform a variety of litigation and transactional work independently.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum two years of legal experience; Medicaid and/or health care industry knowledge.
