<description>(Boise) – Idaho will receive $1.2  million from a legal settlement with Abbott Laboratories, Attorney General  Lawrence Wasden said today. Wasden joined the attorneys general of 44  other states and the District of Columbia in a $100 million settlement with  Abbott Laboratories over allegations of illegal off-label marketing of its  Depakote drug. The agreement marks the largest consumer protection  pharmaceutical settlement ever reached.</description>

<description>(Boise) – Prescription drug  manufacturer SmithKline Beecham Corporation, doing business as GlaxoSmithKline,agreed to pay $2.6 million in a legal settlement resolving Idaho’s claims  relating to the “average wholesale prices” reported by the companies, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Since filing lawsuits in 2005, Wasden has  resolved 14 average wholesale price matters with drug manufacturers, including  this settlement, resulting in more than $20 million recovered.</description>

<description>(Boise) –  Former Canyon County maintenance superintendant Andrew Eveland pleaded guilty  today to four counts of presentation of false accounts, a felony under Idaho  Code § 18-2706, and one count of grand theft, also a felony under Idaho Code §§  18-2403(1) and 18-2407(1)(b)(8), Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Eveland entered his pleas during a hearing before Third District Judge Susan  Wiebe in Canyon County.</description>

<description>(Boise) –  John Prior, a 50-year-old resident of Meridian, has been charged with battery  with the intent to commit rape, a violation of Idaho Code § 18-911, Attorney  General Lawrence Wasden said. The Canyon County Grand Jury indicted Prior  on the felony charge on April 4, 2012. Prior turned himself in at the Ada  County Jail the following day. His initial court appearance has been set  for April 20 in Canyon County Magistrate Court.</description>

<description>(Boise) - Idaho businesses that paid for ad space in the Gem  County Spotlight are entitled to refunds under a settlement with the  publisher, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said today. The settlement  resolves allegations that Sam Consalvi, owner of Sector Marketing, accepted  money from businesses based on his misrepresentation that their purchased ads  would appear in the monthly Spotlight. Consalvi subsequently left  Idaho without publishing the magazine or returning the businesses’ money.</description>

<description>(Boise) –  Attorney General Lawrence Wasden today released his annual Consumer Protection  report for 2011. Noting that 2011 marked the 40th anniversary  of the Idaho Consumer Protection Act, Wasden said his office recovered a record  $8 million in consumer restitution last year. In addition, the Consumer  Protection Division recovered $2.5 million in penalties, fees and costs;  received more than $24 million from the tobacco settlement, and returned $1.5  million in unspent consumer protection money to the general fund.</description>

<title>Wasden Warns of Reported Mortgage Settlement Scams</title>
<description>(Boise) - Attorney General Lawrence Wasden today warned Idahoans to be cautious of scam phone calls and e-mails related to the recent multistate mortgage servicer settlement.  Citizens throughout the country have reported to the multistate group that they have been contacted by callers claiming to have a list of consumers who are eligible for money from the settlement.  The caller asks for the consumer’s bank account number, supposedly so the caller can deposit the money directly into the consumer’s bank account.  Some callers have reportedly posed as bank employees or as third-settlement administrators.</description>

<description>(Boise) – A Teton County man who  hired a neighbor to burn down his parent’s home in order to collect insurance  money was sentenced yesterday to one and one-half years to 12 years in prison,  Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said today. In addition to the prison  term, Seventh District Judge Dane Watkins, Jr. also ordered Matthew J. Sargent to pay  a $1,000 fine. The judge will determine the restitution amount at a later  date.</description>

<description>(Boise) – Inkom resident Terry L. Leissring, a Medicaid provider, was sentenced yesterday  for grand theft by submitting false claims to Medicaid, Attorney General  Lawrence Wasden said. Sixth District Judge Robert Naftz sentenced  Leissring to two to 10 years in prison. The court retained jurisdiction  for 365 days and ordered Leissring into immediate custody. Restitution  will be determined at a later date.</description>
