Nampa Man Sentenced for Insurance Fraud
(Boise) –Julio Cesar Corona of Nampa was sentenced today for insurance fraud, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Third District Judge Juneal Kerrick gave Corona a withheld judgment, ordered him to perform 20 days of sheriff inmate labor duty and placed him on probation for 3 years. The judge also ordered Corona to pay Travelers Insurance $7556 in restitution and pay the court fines and costs.
Corona, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of insurance fraud on September 2, 2014. By pleading guilty, Corona admitted that he reported a knee injury to his employer as work related, when he knew the injury occurred the night before while playing softball. The injury required surgery.
The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Insurance and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Donnell of the Attorney General's Insurance Crimes Unit.
