Todd Ericcson Sentenced for Resisting and Obstructing Officers
(Boise) – Todd Ericcson, 50, was sentenced yesterday for resisting and obstructing officers, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Judge Darren Simpson sentenced Ericcson in Seventh District Court in Jefferson County.
Judge Simpson ordered Ericcson to report to him once each month for the next six months. Ericcson also must pay a $400 fine and perform 30 hours of community service.
Ericcson, a Rigby resident and former police officer with the Idaho Falls Police Department, was charged on November 17, 2006, with two counts of grand theft by possession of stolen firearms that he had purchased from former Idaho Falls City Prosecutor Kimball Mason. Yesterday, Ericcson pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of resisting and obstructing officers. Pursuant to the negotiated plea agreement, the Attorney General’s Office dismissed the grand theft charges.
The Attorney General was appointed special prosecutor for this case.
