Wasden Welcomes Idaho Amber Alert
(Boise) - Attorney General Lawrence Wasden described today's successful test of the statewide Amber Alert system as "a life-saving step forward for Idaho's children."
"The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports that the first few hours after abduction are the most critical for a kidnapped child's safe return. Amber Alert is a proven lifesaver," Attorney General Wasden said. "Implementation of the statewide Amber Alert system provides a critically important tool for law enforcement by enlisting everyone in Idaho in the search for kidnapped children. Prompt citizen reports of potentially helpful information to local law enforcement agencies can save a child's life."
"It was an honor to work with and support the federal legislation, sponsored by Senator Mike Crapo, that provided the funding and training needed to bring a statewide Amber Alert system to Idaho. The Bureau of Disaster Services, Idaho State Police, the local law enforcement community, Idaho State Broadcasters Association, Idaho Transportation Department and the Idaho Lottery have demonstrated their commitment to public service by working together to make Amber Alert a reality. I commend Governor Kempthorne for his leadership in implementing a statewide system."
