Jason Yeates Sentenced for Felony Aggravated Battery
(Boise) - Jason Lee Yeates, 22, of Boise, was sentenced to up to ten years in prison for felony aggravated battery, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fourth District Judge Joel Horton sentenced Yeates on Wednesday to a 3 year fixed and 7 year indeterminate prison term. The court retained jurisdiction and will consider restitution at a review hearing to be set at a later date.
On February 12, 2003, an Ada County jury found Yeates guilty of felony aggravated battery. The charge stemmed from an incident at approximately 2:00 AM on June 28, 2002 at a convenience store and gas station on State Street in Boise. The attorney general's complaint charged that Yeates "punched and/or kicked the victim causing bleeding on the brain and/or facial fractures." The victim suffered temporary and permanent brain damage.
The Special Prosecutions Unit of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division took the case at the request of Ada County Prosecuting Attorney Greg Bower. Deputy Attorney Kenneth Stringfield prosecuted the case.
