Steven Matkovich Sentenced on Felony Burglary Charges
(Boise) - Steven M. Matkovich will serve at least 7 years and up to 14 years in prison for burglary, grand theft and conspiracy to commit burglary and grand theft, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said today. Third District Judge Juneal Kerrick also ordered Matkovich to pay restitution and court costs.
On January 28, 2003, Steven M. Matkovich, 34, of Middleton, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, two counts of grand theft and one count of conspiracy to commit burglary and grand theft. Matkovich admitted to burglarizing two local charitable organizations, The Giving Hand in Nampa and the Salvation Army, as well as several other businesses.
A multi-county task force was formed to investigate a series of rooftop burglaries. The Attorney General's Special Prosecutions Unit handled the prosecution because it involved burglaries in multiple counties and at least two states. Deputy Attorney General Kenneth Stringfield handled the case.
